During this time, he settled in Coimbatore while working in a tea shop in Tatabad. After this, Martin decided to set up a shop selling lottery tickets. According to Martin’s wife Lima Rose, the lottery business was a double bonus for him, because often the prize money for unsold tickets also went into his pocket.

According to the information, the problems of the lottery king increased in 2011. The AIADMK government then returned to power in the state and jailed Martin for eight months after accusing him of 14 cases of land grabbing, illegal lottery sales and fraud in various parts. He was released on May 7, 2012. After Martin’s arrest, his wife joined politics. She was made the state deputy general secretary of the Bharatiya Jananayaka Katchi. A few years later, his elder son Charles Jose joined the BJP, while his brother Tyson Martin formed his own party ‘Tamilar Vidiyal Katchi’.
